What are your dreams? What are your aspirations? Do you have goals? What are you doing to accomplish them?
These questions are some the most frequently asked questions that I hear and ask myself on a regular basis. Answering questions is fine, however, what action are you putting behind the answered questions?
I've watched countless videos, taken online courses, talked with fellow entrepreneurs and soaked up a wealth of knowledge. You know what I do with it? I make a new note in my phone, I write things on sticky notes, I buy new journals and that is where the ideas and thoughts stay. No action is being taken to achieve any of the things I said I wanted to do. So where does that leave me? Asking myself what are my dreams? What are my goals? You get where I'm going with this. So 1, maybe 2 years later, I am still asking the same questions. When I started this blog, I just wanted to document my hair journey, but it quickly evolved into this platform that allows me to share my journey with you all and press through challenging times.
Something that has stuck out to me that I heard someone say is "If you want it bad enough, you will do anything." No, I don't mean breaking the law or living on the edge. But sacrifices will be made so that you can get to where you want to be. I work a typical 9-5, where I am helping someone else make money and succeed in their industry. But how does that help me? I'll answer that for you, it doesn't. Now, don't get me wrong I am grateful for this job and I know that it was only God that opened this door, but I have been working since the age of 15. Which means, I have been trained and conditioned to help someone else profit, while I just work to pay bills and eat.
I was reading a devotional and it said, "In the educational system, we are not taught to be entrepreneurs, we are taught to be employees." As you reflect on your educational experience, your mind begins to open and you see that, that statement, is fact.
But just how bad do you want to get to where you want to be? Do you even know where you want to go?
You have to do things you've never done before. As I grow my business and gain exposure, I notice I've had to sacrifice some sleep to get things done. After working and taking care of my family and home, it's usually time for bed. For the typical person, this is true but for an entrepreneur, that's your quiet time to check off some tasks. I also surround myself with people that share the same mindset as myself. I filter out the distractions on my social media, and avoid situations that do not promote positivity. As you begin to evolve, your mindset changes, and you may find your circle changing as well. It's okay and expected. There is a time and season for everyone and everything.
Lastly,I have also had to make financial sacrifices. No, not going broke to achieve your dreams but positioning yourself correctly. Cutting back things that you don't actually need. I also found a way to bring in additional income until I am able to replace that with the income from my own business.
The bottom line is, you WILL do what you need to do IF you want it bad enough! GO AFTER WHAT YOU WANT AND BE UNAPOLOGETIC!
Have an amazing day and I love you all! Talk to you soon!
