It has been an interesting 3 months. Interesting to say the least. I have been through a lot and gained so much all at the same time. Now, I don't want to bore you with each individual detail of my life, but it felt important to me to share with you what has been happening in more detail than I shared in my YouTube video. So if you've watched my lasted video, you would already know that my husband and I are expecting our 3rd child! Yes #3! It was hard for us to wrap our minds around as well when we first found out. In my mind I was done having children but I guess God had other plans. This child has work to do on this earth and we intend to guide him every step of the way. At first we were shocked, and a little upset. But things turned around and I now cannot wait to meet our new baby! I just hope the brothers are just as accepting as we are. Now the next big ticket item is not only am I pregnant but of course, I'm also vegan. Now how is this going to work? Of course I went straight to YouTube to find out how everyone else has done it from raw vegan to high carb low fat vegan, it can be done!
I was asked to do updates on how it feels to be vegan and pregnant, so I am going to do just that. At about 6 weeks I found out I was pregnant. The crazy thing about pregnancy is you don't have symptoms until you know for sure. Weird how the brain and the body works. The nausea this time around was insane. As a vegan who focuses on whole plant foods, eating a variety of foods is in my norm. No smoothies, no onions and for god sake, NO BLUEBERRIES! So for breakfast during my first trimester I primarily ate cream of wheat, which was plain or just toast. I tried to eat that everyday and then hot cereal started to give me indigestion. I also was a big coffee and tea drinker, coffee gave me stomach cramps and tea gave me indigestion. So I then moved tojust eating bagels. I know this isn't a very nutritious breakfast but I had to eat something. For lunch baked potatoes and steamed broccoli was my go to, and dinner sometimes I would eat cold cereal or whatever I had a taste for since the nausea had dissipated by then. In between meals, I would make sure I drank plenty of water and sparkling water was a staple. There were so many times I've had to get up from my desk at work and sit outside for 10-15 minutes to get my composure. Now that I am in my second trimester, I am able to eat ANYTHING! LOL! I do make sure I am getting all my nutrients. I am also taking a Vegan Prenatal Supplement and a Vegan DHA supplement and my baby is thriving! Getting all the vital nutrients that you and your baby need while pregnant is key! There is no need for me to compromise my lifestyle and put my health at risk when it has been proven that a vegan lifestyle is sustainable for all ages.
Thank you to everyone for your support in this journey!!
